Best Recall Ever Recall is by far the most important thing for your dog to learn (for the safety of your dog)! Mr Biscuit’s recall is absolutely guaranteed, every time, any time, from over a mile away, no matter what he’s doing or what the distractions are! I’ve been training dog for over 40 years, and I can tell you the absolute hardest thing to teach any dog is recall! Here’s what the “clicker” people will never admit! You will NEVER teach an absolute guaranteed recall from a long distance using the “voice, clickers & treats” training method! I spent many years trying to teach a “solid recall” with “voice” and “treats” and I can tell you, it’s just not possible! I challenge anybody to show me a video of a solid recall using voice, clickers & treats! In 40 years of dog training I’ve never seen it! Here’s why! The human voice typically falls between 300Hz and 2000Hz, (averages 800Hz) a dog typically hears best at a frequency of 4000Hz!Food is not a high value reward! Dogs will not stop chasing a squirrel, rabbit, car, etc, etc, for a treat!A human voice will only travel about 100 yards depending on the terrain! Here’s what you do! Don’t teach recall! Teach squeak means play in your home first! This is the key to success!Use a high value reward (not food! play & human interaction only)Use a shepherd’s whistle (range 2,000 yards) or a squeaky ball (range 600 yards)!Start with a squeaky ball, move to shepherds whistle after you dog has a solid recall with a squeaky ball (shepherds whistle can reproduce squeaky ball sound only louder) A solid recall is the hardest & most important (for the safety of your dog) command you will ever teach your dog!! If you google “teach my dog recall” you’ll see everybody giving the same old “clicker & treat” advice that just doesn’t work! This is just one more example of why “clicker & treat” training is inefficient!! Squeak means play! Squeak means play is a simple thing I do with my dogs everyday, in my normal daily routine (no training sessions needed) I simply squeak the ball before I interact/play with them throughout my normal daily routine! I know what your thinking… that’s it!! Yes and here’s why… about 50% all of all dogs will come to a squeaker ball without any prior training! Dogs love to interact/play with there owners more than anything in the world, so no food is needed! The reward is playing with you, do not give them food as a reward it will ruin the value of your recall! All of my dogs learn this recall within a couple of days… without any training sessions!! By teaching squeak means play, you are not only building a strong foundation for a “solid recall” but most importantly, you are building a strong personal bond with your dog! Bribing your dog with treats every time he/she does something you like, will NEVER create a personal bond with your dog, it actually does the exact opposite!!
